You may not realize how important your teeth are until you lose them. Any number of missing teeth can impair your diet, comfort, and health.
Fortunately, Drs. Elli and Yaakov Schulman can restore your teeth and quality of life with state-of-the-art dental implant treatment.
Find out why dental implants have become the preferred tooth replacement solution at our Clifton, NJ, practice.
Unlike traditional prosthetics which rest on top of the gumline, dental implants are secured within the jawbone. This creates an incredibly stable foundation for your implant-supported crown, bridge, or denture. Your prosthetic will never slip out of place when you eat and should feel just as comfortable as your natural teeth.
Tooth roots play an essential role in your dental health by stimulating and strengthening the gums and jawbone. Dental implants are the only restorative method that actually replaces the roots along with the crowns of your teeth. This helps you avoid long-term problems, like bone recession and periodontal disease.
Implant-supported restorations fair better long-term compared to traditional alternatives. For example, an implant denture can last between five and 10 years longer than the average removable denture. Furthermore, dental implants themselves often last a lifetime with proper care and maintenance.
"Dr Schulman is an outstanding cosmetic dentist! He did a lot of work on my teeth and I HIGHLY recommend him.
- Chaya Hyman
Dental implant restorations consist of three separate parts: the implant posts, the abutments, and the dental restoration. To ensure the highest quality results, Drs. Elli and Yaakov Schulman use only premium titanium and zirconia dental implants. Your dental restoration caps the implant posts and fills the gaps in your smile. These prosthetics come in the form of a crown, bridge, or denture, and are custom-made to look just like natural teeth.
The cost of dental implants can vary depending on several custom aspects of the procedure, including sedation, preparatory treatments, and the type of restoration. However, the primary factor influencing cost is the number of missing teeth. A single missing tooth will require one implant, while a full mouth can involve six to eight implants per arch.
During your consultation, we will evaluate your individual needs and go over all your treatment options. Once we develop your customized treatment plan we will be able to provide a precise cost estimate.

A traditional dental implant is about 3.25 to 5 mm in diameter. The standard-size implant post typically provides the best stability and long-term success. While these traditional posts are very small, patients need to have a higher level of bone density to qualify. If you have sustained jawbone recession, we can provide bone grafting treatment or a sinus lift to restore your candidacy.
Mini dental implants are slightly smaller than traditional titanium implant posts. Just like standard implants, they can be used to replace one tooth or multiple teeth. Since mini dental implants are smaller, they require less jawbone tissue and offer a less invasive procedure. This makes them a good option for patients with health conditions that interfere with their ability to heal from surgery.
All-on-4 is an innovative treatment technique designed to restore a complete denture. The name refers to the number of implants (four) that are used per jaw. With the All-on-4 method, your dentist will insert the implants at an angle to maximize contact with the bone tissue. This allows patients with low jawbone density to qualify. Our Clifton practice also offers the related All-on-6® procedure that involves six implants per jaw.
The only way to know what type of dental implants are right for you is to schedule a consultation at our Clifton, NJ, dental practice. At this time we will assess your oral health and bone structure with our high-tech 3D scanners. Drs. Elli or Yaakov Schulman will also talk to you about your personal preferences and budget, and develop a custom treatment plan.
1
The first step is a surgical procedure to place the dental implants. We make small incisions in the gumline and insert the implants at strategic points in the jawbone. During your consultation, your dentist will take 3D CT scans of your jaw and plan out the surgery, reducing the chance of complications.
3
It usually takes about three to six months to fully recover from implant surgery. During this time the implants fuse to the bone tissue in a process known as osseointegration. When the healing period is complete, the implants will be completely stabilized within the jaw.
2
After the implants are placed, your dentist will attach small connector parts called abutments. The abutments act as the point of connection between the titanium post and the prosthetic tooth. Then we will close the incisions with stitches or sutures. In many cases, your dentist will secure a temporary restoration before you leave this appointment.
4
Once osseointegration is complete, you will return to the office to restore your implant with a permanent crown, bridge, or denture. Your permanent restoration is crafted at a later date because the fit may change over the course of your recovery. Once the prosthetic is attached to the abutments, your treatment is complete.
Dental implant treatment takes place in multiple phases at our Clifton, NJ, practice. We can often provide immediate tooth restoration during the first procedure, even if damaged teeth need to first be extracted. Learn more about the steps involved in your treatment.
